Temple Solael's Vision
The vision of the temple is to serve individual congregants, families, the congregation, and the communities around it (secular, and apt inter-congregation relationships), with spiritual, human, and social needs, while maintaining its own viability.
- Maintain a current social and community context (including secular and inter-congregational) as times change.
- Provide religous observances and support, calendar and lifecycle; seek charismatic & meaningful leadership; provide useful and contextual sermons, education and study; support strong ethics. Update religious practices as times change.
- Serve individuals with spiritual, human, life cycle, and group affiliation needs and opportunities. Spiritually, help the individual discover and reconcile their personal view of God, theology, and liturgy, with that of the temple's organization; promote growth in the individual's spiritual development. Empower individual participants in group processes. Promote development of the human potential; foster Torah ethics, positive development of interpersonal relationships, and capabilities to deal with peer pressures. Support life cycle needs, including birth, confirmation, marriage, and deaths. Provide group affiliation opportunities, for youth, adult single, other adult, and seniors. Encourage camping and retreat opportunities.
- Serve families by fostering development of effective and functional family units, support to family life cycle events, and support in maintaining effectiveness and functionality of the family unit. Support children and spouses in resolution of abuse.
- Serve the congregation. Preserve and evolve the religious and ethical heritage of Reform Jewry. Foster participation across the age spectrum, and respond to avoid age stagnation in temple supported activities.
- Support the secular community. Network to secular education acivities (even if in conflict with private schooling), and secular group activities (such as scouting, social-action and civic organizations) by presence, encouragement, and assistance as appropriate. Indicate temple mission.
- Network with the community's adjacent congregations. Participate in Reform Judiaism's regional and national organizations, UAHC, SCFTY/NFTY, CCAR, ACCR, NFTA, NATE, etc. Continually re-examine apt relationships, both intra- and inter-faith. Jointly market the benefits of temple affiliation and support. Provide joint social-awareness, community support, and youth social opportunities.
- Maintain a current vision, developed with reasonably widespread participation, to provide effective support to attract new members, and market benefits of remaining affiliated to current members.
