TROOP TRIBUNE
TROOP 464
 JUNE 1999

SCOUTMASTER'S CORNER
Well, it is almost time for summer camp. When you're real busy, time seems to really fly by (unless you are in school). Anyway, our troop has indeed been real busy with lots of events and outings. In June we are all getting ready for summer camp which promises to be fun and exciting.

We just had our PLC meeting and the scout leaders have come up with an interesting calendar of events for the rest of the year. They have bike trips, beach campouts, lake campouts, hiking trips and white water rafting planned for our troop. Oh yes, I forgot, we also have a Dodger game planned in the summer.

There is one important thing that I would like to remind everyone about. The signup sheets that are passed around before an outing are important to help the troop leaders plan an outing. The sheet tells us the number of boys who are going. This is necessary for the planning of the outing. Therefore, please sign up early when the sheet is created for a particular outing. It will make it much easier to plan for the trip.
I would like to welcome all the new scouts and parents into our troop. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. All the other adult leaders and I stand ready to help you.
Yours in Scouting,
Alex Balian, Scoutmaster

SCRIBE'S CORNER
Just the Jobs
I find it interesting to look back to the days when I first opened my factory with Alf, Bert, Charlie, Duggie, and Ernie, and had to decide how to allot the jobs of Door-Keeper, Door-Knob Polisher, Bottle-Washer, Welfare Officer, and Worker.  Not surprisingly they all had their opinions about it. Alf was most emphatic that whoever was to polish the door-knob, it should not be Ernie. Charlie was very keen to wash the bottles, but Ernie thought that Duggie was the most suitable person for this job. Bert hoped that Alf would be the worker and expressed a strong disinclination himself to be the Welfare Officer. Duggie warmly recommended Bert for the job of Door-Keeper.

After the jobs had been allotted it was interesting, looking back, to see that the hopes and recommendations of the Bottle-Washer and the Worker had not in fact been fulfilled, but that those of the Door-Keeper and the Door-Knob Polisher had.

Who had which job?  If you can be the first to answer this riddle correctly, give me a brief summary (about half a sheet of paper) and you will receive a prize.
Have fun!
